Magnet Review: My Favorite Window Manager for Mac Users
Magnet is a simple window manager for Mac OS that allows you to use keyboard shortcuts to instantly organize your open applications and maximize your screen’s real estate.
In this post, I walk through how Magnet works, how I use it on a daily basis, and strategies for adopting the tool into your workflow.
Magnet is one of those small tools that makes a surprisingly big difference in daily productivity. If you’re a Mac user juggling multiple windows and applications throughout the day, a window manager is a must-have.
How Magnet Works
Magnet lets you snap windows into organized positions using keyboard shortcuts or by dragging windows to the edges of your screen. You can quickly arrange windows into halves, thirds, quarters, or full screen - without any manual resizing.
Some of my favorite shortcuts include:
- Left half: Control + Option + Left Arrow
- Right half: Control + Option + Right Arrow
- Top half: Control + Option + Up Arrow
- Bottom half: Control + Option + Down Arrow
- Full screen: Control + Option + Enter
Why Every Agency Operator Needs This
When you’re bouncing between ClickUp, Slack, email, Google Docs, and a dozen other tools throughout the day, being able to instantly snap windows into position saves real time. It might seem small, but those seconds add up across hundreds of context switches per day. Pair it with some ClickUp productivity tips and you’ll notice a real difference in your daily output.
If you haven’t tried a window manager yet, give Magnet a shot. It’s available in the Mac App Store.
