How to Start Documenting Processes Without Feeling Overwhelmed

Documenting processes is something that every agency owner knows they need to do, but struggle to actually do it.

Having documented processes makes you more professional to work with and reduces headaches with the client.

If you want to grow your agency and provide better value for your clients and grow your agency, you need to start.

It can be difficult to know where to start though. It can feel overwhelming. 

Andrew and Ben give you an easy way of deciding how to get started and reduce overwhelm.

Here we break down how to simplify getting started documenting processes

1. Decide what is important

You can have a bunch of services that the agency offers, but you need to figure out which actually drive money for your business.

This is key. Your time is valuable and shouldn’t be wasted on unnecessary processes.

You need to be aware of what you need to remove.

You may be delivering a service that is time-consuming and complicated but doesn’t have much effect on your agency’s bottom line.

See what’s causing you headaches and determine if it’s worth doing. If it’s not, make the decision to stop it.

2. List all the deliverables that you offer as an agency.

Determine what comes up the most. Which ones of these you find yourself doing the most often.

You’ll likely find that 20% of your deliverables account for 80% of the work that you are doing.

Focus on this 20%.

Start on these deliverables and begin documenting your processes here.

You will find that as you do this, you’ll all be build out the other 80% of your deliverables as well since there will likely be overlap.

If you concentrate on doing this, by the end of 12 weeks, you should have most if not all your documentation finished at your agency.

Documenting processes helps you scale, increase revenue and improve client relationships. Documentation gives you freedom at your agency.
